Teleferic Barcelona 1992

Dining at Teleferic Barcelona 1992 feels like you've been transported to Spain via Brentwood - in all the best of ways.

When Sara picked Teleferic Barcelona 1992 for our inaugural group dinner, I was extremely excited. I’d passed by it  while walking up the street to the opening party for wellpeople acupuncture a few weeks prior. I remember passing by and going “Oh! That place looks fun!” Little did I know that my opportunity to dine there would be soon after.

When I arrived, the PAN CON TOMATE (A traditional Spanish dish of toasted bread with tomato dressing & chorizo butter)  and the PATATAS BRAVAS (Crispy potatoes topped with homemade brava sauce & aioli) were already on the table. When you’re seated with friends you’ve known decades, ordering and sharing around the table is a pleasure. Plus, it’s simply so nice to arrive to food.

Up next were the SPANISH MEATBALLS (Tender beef meatballs in a flavorful ‘canary masala’ sauce & cream) and my LA FLACA (Mezcal, Patron Silver Tequila, Serrano Peppers, Prickly Pear & Lime). Cheers were given to our collective three decades of friendship.

When the 3 IBERIAN OYSTERS (Freshly-caught oyster with gazpacho & Iberian Ham) arrived, I made us all cheers to the pleasure of being alive and enjoying the moment. It was the most unique and interesting presentation and taste of oysters I’d recently seen.

Honestly, more restaurants should serve oysters on a rocks with dry ice.  It’s a definite on point presentation.

When the IBÉRICO PORK PAELLA (Acorn-fed pork chop, pork belly & mushrooms) served ‘socarrat’ (burn rice, extra done) came out – I was immediately transported to my first time having paella in Spain when I was in high school. It was – simply put- damn good. The pork was rich, full of flavor and a pleasure to eat.

To enjoy the paella, I doubled down with the smokiness with the BRYAN’S LEGACY (Smoked Version of an Old Fashioned with Scotch, Brandy, Drambuie & Pedro Ximénez). It was a winning taste combo.

On a whim, I ordered the TAQUITOS DE TUNA & AVOCADO (Marinated ahi tuna, mashed avocado & wonton shells) for the table. It was actually perfect, as one order served up three mini tacos. The fresh tuna was a nice palette cleanser to the heaviness of the pork flavor from the paella.

To finish off our multi hour dinner, I had the shimmering beautiful IBIZA G&T (Dry gin, silver dust, butterfly pea, tea ice & kaffir lime) as we all dug into the TRÍO SELECTION (Telefèric’s most popular desserts: churros, torrija & chocolate cheesecake). Personally, I loved the rich, out of this world deliciousness of the churros above all else. When in doubt for a dessert at Teleferic Barcelona 1992, get the churros. The chocolate literally oozed out. I also appreciated the ice cream on the side.

All in all, it was an outstanding dinner, split among friends – with loads of laugher and joy sprinkled on top.
