Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong is a great restaurant for high quality, al la carte ordered Korean barbecue in Koreatown
Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong, in Koreantown, is a popular South Korean restaurant chain that specializes in Korean barbecue. The restaurant’s name is a combination of “Kang Ho Dong,” which refers to Kang Ho-dong, a well-known South Korean television personality, and “Baekjeong,” which means “butcher” in Korean.
The restaurant chain is famous for its lively and energetic atmosphere, often accompanied by enthusiastic staff who assist customers in grilling the meats at their table. The interactive dining experience and delicious flavors have contributed to the chain’s popularity both in South Korea and internationally.
Returning to Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong after a Covid era visit, we were excited to enjoy the full experience years later. After an hour wait (typical) we were seated on the patio area, with great ventilation.
Wanting to taste a little bit of both categories, we chose the MARINATED GALBI and the PREMIUM SEARED PORK BELLY alongside the FRIED DUMPLINGS.
Everything was great. What really stood out for me was dipping the various meats into the sesame oil and salt sauce. Using the thinly sliced radish circles for little meat tacos was fun! And, I’m always a fan of well pickled kimchi.
Various tastes of the little dishes complimented the larger meats perfectly.
Personally, I absolutely love that the servers cook the meat for you. It speeds up the experience and makes enjoyment effortless.
The key to a a great K BBQ experience is going to a place with great side dishes as well as delicious cuts of meat, marinated well. Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong is a solid choice.
However, you must go into it understanding that parking is utter and absolute trash.
But, with the right mindset and patience, you will be rewarded.
