Dinner at DAMA Fashion District was an exquisite foray into Latin American cuisine in Downtown Los Angeles
What I love about Latin America cuisine is that it is a tantalizing adventure for the senses, offering a vibrant tapestry of flavors, colors, and aromas that captivate the palate and ignite the spirit of exploration. After enjoying my dinner at Scopa Italian Roots in Venice, I was ecstatic to learn that there was a sister restaurant, serving Latin cuisine in Downtown Los Angeles.
So, when it was time to meet Johann for a very special celebration dinner, I put on my favorite “I’m so happy to have reached my fitness goals” dress from Reformation, and headed for our reservation at DAMA.
When I arrived, I was in visual heaven. The mood was lively, the space was beautiful and even the floor was beautiful.
After browsing the menus we began with drinks and the CRISPY SQUASH FLOWERS (farmer’s cheese, goat cheese, thyme, chive). Followed by the EMPANADAS (dry aged ground beef, green onion, smoked paprika, Brazilian hot vinegar).
What I love the most about empanadas is how savory the pastries are. They’re so versatile and delicious – especially with delicious, aromatic sauces.
The squash flower were delicious. HOWEVER, I have to say, they are better at Scopa. The way that you can get the blossoms with a side of the rich and savory tomato sauce is… *chef’s kiss*.
The visual showstopper was definitely the PRAWNS (chili, lime, confit garlic, parsley, olive oil, charred lemon). The use of fresh herbs, the squirt of lemon and aromatic spices created a symphony of flavors that was mouthwatering.
Finally, the OXTAIL TOSTADA (cabbage queso fresco, avocado crema, hot pickled veg. lime, cilantro) graced our table.
The visually delicious entree was enhanced by the vibrant plating. It was just as scrumptious as it looked.
As I savored the last bites of my meal at DAMA, I was left utterly impressed by the explosion of flavors and culinary expertise that graced my palate.
Plus, to have a friend that you can travel with, celebrate success with, and enjoy a good dinner with – cultivating that friendship is truly priceless.
