With delicious food and a fun atmosphere, Scopa Italian Roots is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Los Angeles
Scopa Italian Roots is a beloved restaurant located in the vibrant neighborhood of Venice, California. Its history is rooted in the vision of chef Antonia Lofaso, who sought to create a dining experience that combined the warmth and familiarity of Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist.
Originally from New York, Lofaso honed her culinary skills working in various acclaimed restaurants before making her mark on the West Coast. After gaining recognition as a contestant on the television show “Top Chef,” Lofaso decided to open her own restaurant, and thus Scopa Italian Roots was born.
I started with the ATOMIC OLD FASHIONED (larceny single barrel bourbon, bitters) as we shared the FRIED CALAMARI (squid ink, lemon), CRISPY SQUASH BLOSSOMS (ricotta, mozzarella, tomato, chili) and the PROSCIUTTO & BURRATA (farmer’s market goose berry, olive oil).
For dinner, I had the PAPPARDELLE (braised pork shank, tomato, parmesan, parsley, ricotta salata).
On another visit with my cousin, Vale, I had the SANDIA Y MEZCAL (mezcal, watermelon, lime, sugar, salt & pepper). FRIED CAULIFLOWER (lemon, chives, parmesan)
Followed by the LINGUINI (clams, butter, garlic, white wine, parsley) and YELLOW NECTARINES (olive oil, sea salt) and coffee for dessert.
Another time, I had the OYSTERS and another, the CAVATELLI (Italian sausage, rapini, Locatelli)
Over the years, Scopa Italian Roots has solidified its position in my mind as a destination for exceptional Italian cuisine in Venice and Los Angeles, in general.
Its enduring popularity is a testament to Antonia Lofaso’s culinary expertise and dedication to creating memorable dining experiences that celebrate the rich flavors and traditions of Italy.
