Lawsons Finest Liquids was a lovely brewery stop for a quick sojourn in Waitsfield, Vermont

While driving through Vermont, I was taken back by the foreign texture of the landscape. It was surreal. At one point, I closed my eyes and imagined myself on an alien planet, watching a new world unfold before my eyes. But no – it was simply the dead of winter in Upstate Vermont.

After a lovely breakfast at Lakeside Coffee Roasters, I continued my adventure along the backroads of Vermont. The beauty of the heavy snow and how it transformed the area was breathtaking.

However, soon it was time to determine my next course of action. Do I continue my drive down the center of Vermont to my reservation at Ice Castles in Lake George? Or, do I do that – but also make a stop at a local brewery to relax?

After a consultation with a friend over their brewery recommendations, I decided to stop at Lawson’s Finest Liquids in Waitsfield. Driving there was such a delightful adventure. I actually enjoyed driving through the snow, stopping to take photos and enjoying the sights.

Once I arrived, it was easy to find parking, get oriented and order two lovely tasters of beer. From what I remember, they were the FAYSTON MAPLE IMPERIAL STOUT (Rich and complex, loaded with dark malts) and BLOOD ORANGE THE SPACE IN BETWEEN (This special brew features blood orange puree and rind, bringing a tropical juiciness to our slightly tart and hazy undefined ale.)

Both were delicious and the best way to break up my long drive. The vibe inside the brewery was lively, inviting and fun. I didn’t feel like an outsider or weird because I was a solo black female, drinking a few ounces of beer in Vermont. It was simply a fun environment and a fun time at a well recommended brewery.

I enjoyed the beer so much, I decided to buy some to pack my suitcase with some cans to give to some friends at home.

Stopping at Lawsons Finest Liquids for an hour was a great highlight to an adventurous day.
