Big Slide Brewery and Public House

Big Slide Brewery and Public House was the best beer and burger place I ate at in in Lake Placid in the Adirondack region in upstate New York

After a lovely cross country skiing class at Cascade Cross Country Ski Center, I was hungry to try a local spot for dinner. After a quick search around, I settled on Big Slide Brewery and Public House in Lake Placid.

Now, to say that I walked across the snow carefully is an understatement. I was extremely careful and thankfully didn’t slip from my parked rental to the door.

Once inside, it felt like a different, much more warmer world. Once seated, I texted a friend to review the beer choices and the menu.

I started with the BAKED PLACID PRETZEL BITES (House ale cheese sauce).

And created my own beer flight:

GINGERBREAD SOUR (‘Tis the season for molasses & gingerbread spices in an amber ale, kettle-soured with lactobacillus for a uniquely tart Holiday Ale.)

HOT PEPPER ALE (An American Pale Ale brewed with 15 lbs of chopped poblano peppers and 2lbs of fresh jalapenos.)

GIANT DIPA (An American Double IPA, with 6 lbs of flavor hops per barrel. Features Citra, Simcoe & Chinook hops)

SCULLY’S SMOKED PORTER (A traditional porter with a light smoked flavor derived from the addition of applewood smoked barley.)

BOURBON BARREL AGED UBU (Our famous Ubu Ale from LPP&B, brewed on premise, then aged in a bourbon barrel for 6 months. Subtle flavors of bourbon, vanilla & oak blend nicely with the malt backbone & dark cherry flavors of this Strong English Ale.)

Needless to say, ALL of the beers were fantastic.

An incredible CHICKEN BURGER with bacon and a side of POUTINE (Knuckle dusted fries, Meier’s Artisan Dairy cheese curd, bourbon green peppercorn gravy, sliced green onion) finished out my dinner.
