Leading up to my stay at Hotel Saranac, I had some reservations. I booked the 1 King Bed Superior 1 Bedroom Suite – which was located in the separate addition to the hotel (the Compass Point Building), on the second floor. However, during a pre call with the hotel, I was told that the elevator was not working.
I was shocked and greatly annoyed. I couldn’t get upgraded, because I was already a Hilton Diamond member that chose the highest category of room that the hotel offered. But, my main concern was walking up and down stairs with a medium sized suitcase and additional bags – with snow.
Luckily, the management considered my concerns and applied points and stay credits. Which leads me to say – everyone needs to remember to be their own advocate for their comfort. Be selfish in your pleasure when it comes down to your money. Have the audacity. Because, if you don’t – who else is going to look out for you?
Once I arrived and checked in at Hotel Saranac, I was pleasantly surprised. The suite was spacious, comfortable and -again – full of space. I greatly enjoyed the separate bedroom and large dining room. I didn’t use the kitchen area in particular or the coffee maker. But, I did greatly enjoy the shower pressure and hot water.
The stairs were easier than not to get up and get down. Plus, the location of the hotel was actually rather nice. Over the course of my stay, I was able to drive to Vermont, explore the Adirondacks and really get a wonderful vibe of upstate New York.
