Great Hall Bar

Having a cocktail at the Great Hall Bar, sitting with my Kindle and talking to locals was a great way to end my full day of adventure in the Adirondacks

After a wonderful afternoon of learning how to cross country ski at Cascade Cross Country Ski Center and dinner at Big Slide Brewery and Public House, it was time to head back to Hotel Saranac in Sanarac Lake.

After a short time of relaxing in my suite, I decided to take my Amazon Kindle and head to the hotel’s bar, Great Hall Bar.

It was a lovely scene. A wedding happened earlier in the day, with the reception leftovers spilling over into the main bar. The bar was beautiful, large and full of life.

Being around such a lively group of people was a much better alternative than sitting in my room, alone with my Kindle.

I settled at the bar at a seat with some locals, and had conversations that were touching, humorous and thought provoking.

That’s what I love about traveling. If you go to a bar with an open mind, you’re bound to get into deep, meaningful conversations with strangers.

The drinks were beautiful, well crafted and set me up for a lovely night’s sleep, back in my suite.
