Craft – Los Angeles

My DineLA dinner at Craft’s Los Angeles location was underwhelming in portion size. But, still offered a nice tasting menu to whet my appetite to return.

Enjoying another season of DineLA in Los Angeles, Chris picked Craft Los Angeles, in Century City, for a group dinner between myself, Chris and his partner Jeff. As Craft is one of my friend Ted’s favorite restaurants in Los Angeles, I was eager to try it.

We started with the CORN BREAD SERVICE (Tehachapi Corn, Jalapeño Cilantro Butter), ALBACORE TUNA (Pickled Cucumber Melon & Frisée) and ROASTED BEETS (Spinach & Feta).

For my main course, I ordered the PRADS & BARNETT PORK CHOP (Roasted Apples & Braised Cabbage).

For dessert, I ordered the CHOCOLATE FUDGE TART (Sea Salt Caramel, Munak Ranch Walnuts, Nocino Ice Cream).

Jeff was not a fan, at all. He did not enjoy his PACIFIC HALIBUT (Cous Cous 8 Roasted Butternut Squash) and the service of our waiter.  Chris did not enjoy his ROASTED APPLE TART (Brown Butter Filling, Cinnamon Ice Cream).  On the other end, I actually enjoyed all of what I had.

However, my only complain was that the portion of the pork chop was surprisingly small. It was in sharp contrast to the portions of the DineLA menu I enjoyed with Amanda at Lunetta. Or, even AOC Brentwood with Johann.

But, when you view DineLA menus as tasting menus to get you to want to come back to the restaurant at a later time – it softens my gaze about the whole thing.
