The Semi-Tropic, long standing on my "to try" list, was a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the Echo Park vibe while eating elevated bar cuisine.
When Sydney, a member of the Claytivity ceramic art studio I belong to, shared that she was organizing an art collective sale at The Semi-Tropic in Echo Park, I immediately marked it on my calendar. Not only did I want to come and say hi to people from Claytivity that were selling at the event. But, visiting The Semi-Tropic had been on my to do list for decades. Why for decades? Because I was too lazy to find parking, each and every time I’d passed by.
But, on a lovely Sunday afternoon, that finally all changed.
After viewing the collection of artist and saying hello to friendly faces, we made our way inside to the bar. Settling in, I said hi to different dogs and delighted in their effortless happiness.
I ordered the SPICED POPCORN (House Moroccan spice mix) for the table.
I also ordered a happy hour glass of Tasi Winery’s 2020 SPARKLING PROSECCO ROSÉ (Italy) to go with my SHRIMP ROLL (Fresh Poached Shrimp, Mayo, Celery, Chives, Old Bay, Shallots, Dill & Mint).
I was delighted. The rose went perfectly with the shrimp roll. Which – to be frank – I was so delighted to see a lobster style shrimp roll on a menu. It was so unique and delicious.
Overall, time at the Semi-Tropic offered a chill, relaxed vibe for watching the day’s sports game in a well appointed environment.
