Yellow Springs Brewery

The best part about my trip to Ohio to attend Dave Chappelle & Friends - An Intimate Socially Distanced Affair? A stop at Yellow Springs Brewery in Yellow Springs, Ohio

It’s fairly safe to say that Ohio is not my favorite state in the United States, by far. In fact, it’s pretty much at the bottom of the list. If it wasn’t for securing tickets to the Dave Chappelle & Friends – An Intimate Socially Distanced Affair at the Wirrig Pavilion, I would have happily lived my life never visiting Ohio. The whole state feels Middle America, sundown county weird.

For instance, when Amy and I were sitting at Young’s Jersey Dairy, minding our own business while eating ice cream.

A local came up to us, trying to start small talk.

And then he told the most racially offensive joke I have ever heard, to my face.

As a white male in Ohio, he thought it was great to see my reaction. However, to me, someone who had flown to Ohio and was looking forward to seeing one of my favorite comedians, it ended up leaving a horrible taste of what it was like to be a black female in Ohio, sitting with a white woman.

I truly hope karmic retribution for disturbing my peace got his ass later.

In any case, after that horrid piece of shit incased in human skin ruined my ice cream (fuck you, still), we tried to turn our frowns upside down and head to Yellow Springs Brewery for beers.

Now, the beers were good. I don’t even remember what I ordered. I think I had an IPA and a Stout, which are my normal go tos.

The landscape was beautiful and it definitely did offer a place to relax after a day of travel, anxiety and bullshit. Especially, after the second beer.

In fact, the only way I would ever go back to Ohio is to go to Yellow Springs Brewery.
