Some hotels that are simply perfectly situated near everything awesome for a 48 hour stay in London. The Hoxton, Southwark is one of them.
In booking the first part of my trip to see Beyonce during the Renaissance World Tour in Edinburgh, Scotland, I knew that I wanted to stay in London for a few days. Since I’d recently stayed in Shorditch during a previous trip to London, I knew that I wanted to try a new area of the city. I knew that the main item on my to see list was the British Museum. Beyond that, I was open to the possibilities of adventure.
In short order, I found that The Hoxton, Southwark fit the bill. When I arrived, I was extremely pleased. The decor was pitch perfect.
Additionally, one of the best things about The Hoxton is that they take notes of when you are scheduled to arrive very seriously. When I arrived after a 10 hour flight from Los Angeles + an hour travel time for Heathrow, I was EXTREMELY pleased that my room was ready at 12:30pm. I was not interested in waiting around until a set check in time, as I’ve experienced at other hotels.
After such a long travel time, it was absolutely refreshing to immediately go into my room and be alone.
The bathroom at The Hoxton, Southwark had the essentials. However, the only thing that slightly annoyed me is that Hoxton’s offer soap, shampoo and conditioners. But, NO lotion in the room.
I now make it a habit to bring my own lotion in my toiletries bag. So, just note that when you go.
The upstairs Seabird Restaurant and downstairs Abbie Restaurant and Bar are both solid hotel options that get rather packed in the evenings.
I enjoyed a dinner upstairs at Seabird the first night. And, breakfast and a few cocktails at Abbie, my second day.
Simply put, the location and overall vibe of The Hoxton, Southwark is simply perfectly for an awesome 48 hour stay in London.
