Learning how to bake macarons during "The Art of Macaron" cooking class at The Farmhouse at Ojai Valley Inn was a really lovely experience

After taking my first class, the Artisan Pizza & Mozzarella Culinary Class at The Farmhouse at Ojai Valley Inn, I was floored by how incredible the experience was. The grounds were immaculate, the class space was incredible and I felt full of joy after the experience.

I immediately began to look forward to the next class I reserved, “Pastry Class: The Art of Macarons” class, hopeful that it would be a lovely experience.

Happily, my expectations were – yet again – exceeded.

The Farmhouse

When I arrived at The Farmhouse, I was enthralled again. It was still stunningly gorgeous. Happily, I was able to make it to Ojai with better timing and less traffic. Which allowed me to enjoy a glass of wine, relax and shift my energy to truly be in the beautiful space that was the Ojai Valley Inn.

Making Macarons

What I loved about the cooking classes is that everything was placed in front of you. And, it was actually FUN. As the wine flowed, we all cooked along with the chef. It was so fun to mix, stir, squeeze and craft our macarons.

I was also introduced to Plugrà® European Style Butter, which has 82% butterfat. This richness of high butterfat butter not only makes the pastries more enjoyable but also contributes to a more satisfying eating experience. In class I learned that the tender texture achieved through high butterfat content is crucial in creating pastries with a delicate and melt-in-your-mouth consistency.

Additionally, the moisture retention properties of butterfat play a vital role in maintaining the freshness and moistness of pastries. This prevents them from drying out too quickly and ensures that they remain soft and flavorful for an extended period.

During a class pause, we were served a giant, premade giant macaron to enjoy.

At the end of the class experience, I had the pleasure of taking home not only a recipe card – but 8 macarons that I filled myself. I savored them over a few days, along with my morning coffee.
