Dinner at Monzu Fresh Pasta provided a great way to enjoy light Italian fare in downtown San Diego, California
While staying at The Cassara Carlsbad, Tapestry Collection by Hilton during a quick getaway to San Diego, I relished being close to downtown – but still a little bit away. So, when it came down to dinner time, I wanted to find a new place to try out.
After a quick search, we were on our way to Monzu Fresh Pasta.
Now, the restaurant is VERY close to Petco Park. I say this, so that paying a shit ton for parking in a neighboring parking structure is not a shock to anyone else.
After getting over that annoyance, it was easy to fall into the rhythm of the vibe of the interior. The vibe was comfortable and homey.
I ordered a glass of wine and the RAVIOLI PROSCIUTTO E PARMIGIANO (Ravioli filled with Italian prosciutto and parmesan cheese + black truffle).
This – was absolutely delicious. Anything with prosciutto and cheese is right on top of my food list.
Combine that with truffle? Give it all to me, please.

My partner’s PISTACHIO PESTO GNOCCHI (Asiago-stuffed gnocchi served with a Sicilian Pistachio pesto, burrata flakes and cherry tomato) was also delicious.
Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our choices.
