Sazerac House

Touring Sazerac House taught me the history of the Sazerac cocktail while experiencing interactive exhibits in New Orleans, Louisiana

Nestled in the heart of the historic French Quarter, the Sazerac House stands as a captivating testament to the rich history and enduring legacy of New Orleans’ cocktail culture.

Originally constructed in 1860 as the site of the city’s first licensed pharmacy, the iconic Sazerac House building underwent a transformative renovation in 2019, emerging as a beautiful museum and interactive experience dedicated to the art of craft cocktails.

As I wanted to learn more about New Orleans’ most famous libation, the Sazerac Cocktail, a visit to the Sazerac House was a must. Luckily, I was able to get a tour.

Stepping through the doors of the Sazerac House feels like embarking on a journey through time, where the stories of New Orleans’ most iconic libations come to life in vivid detail.

As I explored the museum’s curated exhibits and immersive displays, I learned about the fascinating tale of the Sazerac, one of the city’s most iconic cocktails.

From its humble beginnings as a medicinal elixir crafted by apothecary owner Antoine Peychaud to its rise as a beloved libation enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, the Sazerac embodies the spirit of New Orleans’ spirited heritage. Plus, the tastings that I had were delicious.

The tour was one of the most tech advanced, beautiful and fun experiences I’ve had at a distillery.
