Ruby Slipper Cafe

Breakfast at the Ruby Slipper Cafe was a perfect Southern breakfast, wrapped up in the vibrancy of New Orleans.

The Ruby Slipper Cafe, founded in 2008 by husband-and-wife team Erich and Jennifer Weishaupt, is a cozy eatery that pays homage to the city’s rich cultural heritage while adding its own playful twist.

From fluffy biscuits smothered in savory gravy to decadent Bananas Foster French toast, the menu is a celebration of Southern comfort food with a New Orleans flair.

It is a VERY coveted place to eat for breakfast – as I quickly found out. Undeterred, I patiently waited until I got a spot the bar. After browsing, I excitedly ordered.

First out was my BACON BLOODY MARY (Spicy housemade mix with Applewood-smoked bacon infused Fris vodka). Honestly, this was bomb AF.

Next up, for a proper Southern breakfast, I ordered a cup of COFFEE with the SHRIMP & GRITS (Gulf shrimp sautéed with pork tasso, bell pepper, red onion, beer & rosemary-butter reduction, over creamy stone-ground grits served with a buttermilk biscuit).

Breakfast at the Ruby Slipper Cafe was delicious and well worth the wait.
