Farmhouse Kitchen – Oakland

A light hearted lunch at Farmhouse Kitchen was a colorful experience - with great food to match - in Oakland, California

Checking out of my stay  at Alila Napa Valley, I looked forward to meeting Jessica in Oakland. My friendship with Jessica, especially from a creative perspective, is one of my enduring relationships from my time in college. Sometimes, we join a sorority for a sense of community. But – the connections that you make in the process are priceless.

Wanting to introduce me to one of her favorite spots, she suggested that we meet at Farmhouse Kitchen’s Oakland location, in Jack London Square.

Immediately, I was wow’d by the decor. It was decadent, over the top, colorful and visually delicious.

Settling in to our seats, overlooking the water, I ordered the ICED COFFEE THAI WAY (slow drip condensed milk). When Jessica’s spring rolls arrived, I enjoyed a bite of them as well.

When my VOLCANO CUP NOODLES (Spicy noodles stir-fried with our house made Godmother sauce served with braised short ribs, bell peppers and peppercorns) came out, I relished in the drama and over the top nature of the dish.

After the refined nature of enjoying my dream dinner at The French Laundry the previous night, lunch at Farmhouse Kitchen was enjoyable fun.
