Rocky Mountain National Park

Visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park was a brilliant, beautiful time into a luscious winter gateway in Estes Park, Colorado

There are some spots in the United States that simply make me happy to take up space in. Rocky Mountain National Park – with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains while showcasing diverse ecosystems, including alpine tundra, lush forests, and vibrant wildlife – is one of my top favorites on my list.

Now, the first time I visited Rocky Mountain National Park, it was winter. Partaking in the park’s beauty during the warm summer months was a vibrant change.

The reservation system is a bit different during the popular months. The day before I wanted to go to Rocky Mountain National Park to photograph the landscapes, I used the Rocky Mountain National Park Timed Entry website to pay $2 to gain access to the park and Bear Lake Road.

Once I arrived, everything was easy. Park rangers checked my reservation at the entry gate to the National Park and at the start of Bear Lake Road.

I absolutely loved walking around Sprague Lake and Bear Lake. Every vista was a beautiful moment in time.

After I was done, it was a pleasure to enjoy the change in geology as I drove out of Estes Park, through Roosevelt National Forest to New Belgium Brewery in Fort Collins.

Nestled within the rugged embrace of the Colorado Rockies, Rocky Mountain National Park beckons adventurers with a tapestry woven from the threads of time itself. Centuries before its designation as a sanctuary for nature lovers, the land bore witness to the quiet footfalls of indigenous tribes such as the Ute and Arapaho, who revered its towering peaks and expansive forests as sacred ground.

Even in undergrad, I’d always wanted to visit the Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a pleasure to finally get that chance during this trip.

Since its inception in 1915, the Park has evolved into an emblem of untamed beauty, a sanctuary where modernity yields to the raw grandeur of the natural world.

I stood in awe before the sentinel guardians of the Rockies. In every whisper of the wind and every ripple of a mountain stream, the history of Rocky Mountain National Park speaks—a timeless ode to the enduring spirit of exploration and preservation.

I was better because of my visit here.

It allowed me to fall even more in love with Colorado.
