Tun Lahmajo

Tun Lahmajo offers an authentic taste of Armenian and Georgian cuisine in Burbank, served in a rustic setting.

When Adam suggested lunch at Tun Lahmajo, I looked forward to it. It would also give me the chance to give him a small package of a Moroccan spice blend pack I’d picked up during a trip to Morocco a few months prior (A 10 Day Moroccan Adventure with Kim Larkin Adventures). Adam chose Tun Lahmajo after spotting a recommendation for it in the Los Angeles Times. Having enjoyed distinct Eastern European flavors with Amy at Tbiliso in Maryland, I was especially curious to explore heritage Armenian cuisine outside of Glendale.

Once we sat down, I was happy to see that the menu had a QR code, where you could see pictures of the dishes.

We began with the Taboule and the Lahmajo with cheese.

As we ate, talked about the news of the day, and Adam filled me in with his reflections from his recent family vacation in Mexico.

We continued with the Emergency with beef alongside Fresh greens with Garlic sauce and Lavash.

In the end, the food at Tun Lahmajo was a one and done situation for me. But I appreciated experiencing flavors that felt distinctly Armenian – noticeably different from the Turkish cuisine I’d had in Istanbul. Combined with a relaxed ambiance and good conversation, it made for a satisfying and thoughtfully paced start to my afternoon.
