There’s something special about the opportunities for music and food in Los Angeles. Especially, in those places that don’t require a cover charge. They are honestly few and far between. So, when Leanne suggested that we meet over dinner and jazz in Highland Park, the only answer was – hell yes.

After browsing the menu displayed on various extremely large boards around the bar, the LEMON MERINGUE MARTINI (Community Vodka, Licor 43, Orgeat, Fresh Lemon Juice, Half and Half and cream) was ordered. As someone who loves lemon drop martinis, this Lemon Meringue variant was the perfect balance to tart and cream.

With the music from the Max Gerl Trio setting the musical mood for the evening, it was easy to pass the time while I waited for my order of FISH AND CHIPS (Beer Battered Cod, Fries W/ Tartar). When it arrived, I have to admit that it was pretty darn good. The fries had a great dipping sauce and the fish batter was crisp and flavor filled.

Overall, this was an excellent opportunity to enjoy live music in Highland Park. Parking is easy, with street parking and a city lot close by.
