Highly Likely is a popular Highland Park café known for its locally-sourced menu, delicious drinks and beautiful outdoor seating
When I walked into Highly Likely in Highland Park, I was immediately struck by how beautiful the space was—bright, airy, and absolutely bathed in natural light. The whole place felt like a peaceful little pocket of calm in the middle of Los Angeles, and it had this effortless charm that made me want to settle in and stay a while. The high ceilings, the greenery scattered throughout, and the clean design—it all created the perfect backdrop for a laid-back afternoon. It was the perfect setting for lunch with Carla.
After warm hugs and pleasantries were exchanged, I browsed the menu. I’d previously visited the first Highly Likely location, near Culver City years ago. So, I was eager to see how this location differed in offerings.
To drink, I ordered the OK, GREAT! (Coca-Cola, espresso, and cardamom bitters) The first sip was a wild ride of flavors: the espresso hit first, bold and bitter, then the sweetness of the Coke balanced it out, and finally, the cardamom bitters left this warm, slightly spiced finish. In short, it was exactly as the host explained it was: smooth.
It was such a surprising combination but worked perfectly together. As I sat conversing with Carla about real estate related issues, I felt pleased to sip on something truly unique.
For lunch, I went with the FISH N CHIPS (Fried wild snapper, hand-cut fries, kosho tartar, lemon wedges & a simple side salad), and it did not disappoint.
The snapper was fried to crispy perfection, with the inside staying moist and tender. The tartar sauce was a solid as well, with a bright taste that really was unique. The salad was a nice touch, keeping the meal light and fresh, which I appreciated after indulging in those fries.
As I sat there, finishing up my meal and truly enjoying Carla’s conversation, I couldn’t help but appreciate how Highly Likely had turned a casual lunch into such a memorable experience. It’s not just the food or the drink, though both were fantastic—it’s the whole vibe of the place. It feels like the kind of spot where I could lose track of time, working on my computer or just relaxing in the soft sunlight streaming through the windows.
Highland Park has so many hidden gems. Highly Likely is one I’ll be coming back to.
