Scala Osteria & Bar in Napa serves Southern Italian cuisine with fresh seafood and handmade pasta, complemented by a lively ambiance and a carefully curated wine list
After a delightful private wine tasting and tour at Cakebread Cellars, I turned to my tasting host for a dinner recommendation in Napa Valley. Having already enjoyed meals at Torc Napa, Il Posto Trattoria, Bistro Jeanty, Hal Yamashita, and Morimoto Napa, I was looking for something equally memorable and delicious—but not quite as extravagant as The French Laundry, or Ad Hoc. After a thoughtful pause, she suggested Celadon, Waterfront Seafood Grill, and Scala Osteria.
Back at The Knoll Hotel, I enjoyed a relaxing cocktail before heading into downtown Napa, where I was dropped off at Scala Osteria.
While waiting briefly at the bar for my table, I took in the restaurant’s inviting atmosphere. The space was beautifully designed, with thoughtful details that created a warm and sophisticated ambiance. It was exactly the kind of setting I had hoped for – a perfect blend of elegance and comfort for dinner.

Once seated, I decided to keep my meal simple yet satisfying.
I started with the RAVIOLI AL LIMONE (spinach, percorinio, and ricotta stuffed pasta with a lemon cream parmigiono sauce). Paired with a glass of Groth Vineyards & Winery’s 2023 Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley, it was a match made in culinary pleasure. The bright, citrusy notes of the wine complemented the creamy, tangy flavors of the ravioli.
To finish my dinner and cap off the evening, I wanted something with a touch of amaro. After perusing the dessert menu, I settled on the CAFFÈ CORRETTO, WITH A GRAPPA KISS. I savored it slowly, relishing its unique character as I reflected on the day’s adventures. Bold, complex, and unlike anything I’d had before, it was the perfect finale to my day.
Truly, my dinner at Scala Osteria was a simple yet lovely way to end a day of wine tasting in Napa Valley.
