During my stay at Nayara Tented Camp, a luxurious oasis nestled in the heart of Costa Rica’s lush rainforest, I decided to fully immerse myself in the magic of the surroundings by booking a series of unforgettable experiences curated by the property.

Private Rio Celeste River and Rainforest Hike

For this, I booked us a private guided hike through the Tenorio Volcano National Park. This was perfect, as I wanted a moderate activity to enjoy while soaking in the beauty of the Costa Rican rainforest.

The hike to the stunning Rio Celeste Waterfall took about a few hours. Along the way, I kept my eyes peeled for birds and wildlife – and most importantly – sloths.

Our guide pointed out different species of animals and shared fascinating details about them, making the journey even more engaging. The best part? The hike was customized to suit our pace and preferences, so I never felt rushed.

After the event, we had lunch at a local restaurant.

Horseback Riding at Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park

This experience was an incredible adventure, surrounded breathtaking panoramic views of the Arenal Volcano and rainforest. This horseback tour was – in short – absolutely awesome.

We received a helpful talk on how to ride well-trained horses and met our guides at our starting point. Once comfortable, we set off on a multi hour ride through scenic trails.

The views were stunning, and the peaceful rhythm of the ride allowed me to fully immerse myself in the beauty of the surroundings. It was an incredible way to explore the rainforest and create lasting memories.

Group Night Frog Hike at Arenal Oasis Ecolodge & Wildlife Refuge

We were picked up from the hotel and transported to the incredible realm of Arenal Oasis after dark, where the rainforest came alive in a symphony of nocturnal sounds.

Guided by an expert, our group ventured along dimly lit pathways, my senses heightened by the haunting calls of creatures echoing through the trees. I marveled at the spotted vibrant frogs, and caught glimpses of camouflaged snakes.

More than just a thrilling wildlife encounter, the tour deepened my appreciation for the delicate balance of this ecosystem and the importance of conservation. Literally, my partner still – years later – makes reference to this tour as one of the best experiences he’s had.

Private Riverboat Ride on Rio Negro with lunch at Restaurante Tiquicia

This was an incredible experience as well. I booked us a private journey from La Fortuna through the Costa Rican countryside to the Caño Negro wetland and Wildlife Refuge, near the Nicaraguan border.

There, we embarked on a studding private boat ride and nature watch. I was absolutely thrilled, as the hotel packed us a breakfast to enjoy during our ride.

After the tour, we drove back toward Nayara Tented Camp and dined at Restaurante Tiquicia in La Fortuna de San Carlos. While enjoying a traditional Costa Rican meal, I was completely in love with my life.

Each activity I booked through Nayara Tented Camp felt like a chance to connect with the land, the culture, and myself in ways I hadn’t imagined. It wasn’t just a stay. Each curated experience was a way for my partner and I to truly understand Costa Rica’s rich lifestyle and heritage. It left me with lasting memories that I still fondly reminisce about.
