Nayara Tented Camp

Nayara Tented Camp in Costa Rica offers a luxurious rainforest retreat with stunning Arenal Volcano views and a private plunge pool for the perfect blend of adventure and comfort

Some experiences feel as though they are guided by a higher force, as if destiny itself is at play. For my milestone birthday, I knew I wanted to venture somewhere entirely new, a place that would leave me in awe and create unforgettable memories.

The idea first sparked the year before, during a flight back from Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

On the leg to Salt Lake City, I found myself seated next to a warm and friendly man who shared stunning photos from his recent family trip to Costa Rica. Instantly, I was captivated. The lush landscapes, vibrant wildlife, and serene beaches he described planted a seed in my mind.

When the time came to plan my birthday trip the following year, I kept an open mind about the destination. Browsing through vacation package sites, one option on Delta Vacations stood out: Costa Rica. The package was not only within my budget but also felt like the perfect fit. After a day of reflection, I decided to take the leap and booked it.

The journey from Los Angeles to San Jose, Costa Rica, with a layover in Atlanta, was smooth, though the stopover was longer than I would have preferred. To make the most of the time, I reserved a few hours at the Kimpton Overland Hotel, which turned out to be a pleasant and comfortable break for a quick sleep.

Upon arriving in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, I was struck by how familiar and welcoming it felt, despite being so far from home. Clearing customs was a breeze, and we quickly found our driver, who whisked us away without delay. Little did I know, we were heading toward one of the most extraordinary experiences I could have ever imagined.

Checking Into Nayara Tented Camp

Driving across the countryside, I fell in love with how beautiful Costa Rica truly was. The drive from the airport to the hotel was 2.5 hours.

But – once we arrived to Arenal National Park, nothing mattered.

The hotel was – beyond words.

Check in was similar to the check in at Conrad Maldives. We were given coconuts for a refreshing welcome as our check in host went over the map of the property.

We were then guided to Mi Cafecito Espresso Bar and served complimentary coffees and refreshments at the coffee bar, while our room was prepared.

When I got the notification that our suite was ready for arrival, we were given a golf cart tour of the property before our driver dropped us off at our retreat entrance.

Room and Stay

There are certain rooms and experiences that, no matter how many photos or videos you browse online, can never truly be captured or fully appreciated through a screen. They demand to be felt, lived, and breathed in person to understand their magic.

This suite was one of those rare, breathtaking places—a property so stunningly beautiful that it felt like stepping into a dream. It was, without a doubt, one of the most extraordinary spaces I’ve ever had the privilege of staying in. Every detail was thoughtfully designed, and every corner seemed to whisper tranquility and luxury.

The heated plunge pool, perched perfectly to offer uninterrupted views of the volcano, was nothing short of mesmerizing. Whether day or night, the sight of the volcano in the distance, often shrouded in mist or glowing under the sun, was a constant reminder of nature’s grandeur.

The indoor and outdoor showers and hammock added an element of indulgence, allowing me to feel connected to the lush surroundings even during the simplest moments.

And then there was the soaking tub—a masterpiece of relaxation. Sinking into its warm embrace after a day of exploration felt like the ultimate reward.

Every inch of the suite was designed to harmonize with its natural surroundings, blending luxury with the raw beauty of the landscape. It wasn’t just a place to sleep; it was an experience in itself, a sanctuary that elevated the entire trip. Staying there wasn’t just about comfort—it was about feeling immersed in paradise, where every detail contributed to a sense of peace and wonder. It was, in every sense, the perfect escape.

Additionally during the course of the stay, I enjoyed incredible experiences and food, highlighted at Nayara Tented Camp: Experiences and Nayara Tented Camp: Food & Dining.

Massages at Nayara Springs Spa

Almost daily massages in Costa Rica turned this week into a wellness retreat. Each day I reserved a service, skilled therapists tailored treatments to my needs – whether a deep tissue massage or a relaxing couples massage. I enjoyed hot stone massages, sauna sessions, steam rooms, and facials with natural products, all leaving me refreshed.

These daily rituals weren’t just pampering; they immersed me in Costa Rica’s peace and beauty, leaving me physically, mentally, and spiritually renewed. It also allowed me to deal with the first birthday without being able to call my mom and thanking her for having me.

Conclusion

My experience at Nayara Tented Camp was more than just a place to stay – it was an experience that defied description through photos or videos. From the mesmerizing heated plunge pool on the patio with its uninterrupted volcano views to the private experiences I booked, every detail was thoughtfully designed to blend luxury with nature’s raw beauty.

It felt like stepping into a dream, a sanctuary where tranquility and wonder intertwined. Staying at Nayara wasn’t just about comfort; it was about immersing myself in paradise on Earth.
