The French cuisine of Zoldering, served in a cozy and relaxed environment, was a delicious end to a rather busy day in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Returning to Amsterdam after a full day on the “Rotterdam, Delft, The Hague and Madurodam Tour” by Tours and Tickets, we relaxed a bit at Hyatt Regency Amsterdam before debating dinner.
I wanted to find us a light meal to bring closure to our experience in Holland. After a search, I found what looked like a fantastic French restaurant, relatively close to the hotel.
After a tram ride and few minutes of walking, we were at Zoldering.

Now, the Dutch are very – dare I say – to the point. Same with my experiences in Denmark and Sweden. When I asked questions about the menu, I was not surprised to receive very curt and blunt answers. Honestly, I loved it.

I started with a glass of the 2022 Man Des Bressades. It went great with the DUTCH HAMACHI (White Grape, Smoked Almond, Buttermilk). This dish was devastatingly simple looking but incredibly complex and rich in flavor.

Craving gin, I asked one of the bartenders about their selection. She brought out a brand called Levwater Gin and Mousehall Sussex Dry Gin.

She told me the story of Levwater. Casually, she stated that a regular customer produces that brand and brings in bottles for sale, from time to time. After first taste, I ordered an ounce with a single ice cube.
They said it was in the same family as Genever, a local Netherlands bitter made of juniper – but not a Dutch gin. I loved it.
The FRIES and the special of the day, the LAMSKOTELET (lamb chop with Zeekraal and chimichurri) were both was astonishingly delicious.
For desert, we finished with the GIANDUGA (cherry and hazelnut ice cream).
The perfect end of a day filled with all the highlights of The Netherlands that I could have asked for.
