Rotterdam, Delft, The Hague and Madurodam Tour by Tours and Tickets

Booking the Rotterdam, Delft, The Hague and Madurodam Tour by Tours and Tickets was a delightful way to see a different view of The Netherlands

After a previously successful tour of Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken with Tours and Tickets,  I was excited to see what I could plan for us for our one full day in Amsterdam, before heading to London.

Browsing the website, I found the surprisingly comprehensive Rotterdam, Delft, The Hague and Madurodam tour. This was great, as I’d wanted to visit Delft but didn’t want to hassle of taking public transportation and renting a car. So, finding a private coach that left from Amsterdam and hit all the spots? Perfect!

Meeting at Amsterdam Centraal

Meeting at Amsterdam Centraal was MUCH easier this time around, because I remembered where to go based on my previous experience. The bus pulled up and started boarding a few minutes after we arrived. Which, I appreciated my dedication to us being on time and not getting left behind.

The first stop was at Madurodam. This was SO cute. It’s a miniature park of distinct places in The Netherlands!

After driving through The Hague and viewing the various diplomatic houses, it was interesting to stop at the Peace Place and take photographs of the area.

As a ceramic artist, it was a treat to stop at the Royal Delft Museum. The private tour gave us an insight into the slip casting and painting process.

At one point during the tour, we stopped and watched an artesian carefully paint detailed work on a vase. During a question and answer session, I asked how long a piece takes, on average. He explained that it took an average of 3 – 8 hours to complete a piece.

At the company store, I purchased a beautiful, simple hand painted Dutch clog with the Miffy character on it.  After my laparoscopic myomectomy (uterine fibroid removal surgery), this little shoe represented my powerful hope for a carrying a child, once my uterus is fully healed. There was something about the shoe that simply invoked powerful emotion. It was perfect.

Lunch at Frierplein in Delft, The Netherlands

We stopped at the town of Delft for some free time and lunch.

My partner and I ended up eating at Frierplein. I didn’t know how hungry I was!

Had a hamburger, fries, chicken croquette and beef croquette. Well, I attempted to have them. I ordered too much and we couldn’t finish it!

Afterward, I split from my partner and meandered around Delft. The town was absolutely beautiful.

River Cruise Rotterdam

After a short drive around Rotterdam, we stopped at River Cruise Rotterdam for a nice hour on the water. It was fascinating to see a large working harbor, with boats coming in and out. The modern, glass filled buildings of Rotterdam were in sharp contrast to the older structures Amsterdam. Similar to Berlin’s rebuilding after World War II, the effects of history were very clearly all around us.

Markthal

Visiting the Rotterdam Central Markethall was beautiful. The amount of time we were given to wander around and bask in the sights was shorter than I would have liked. But, still perfect.

We were able to get a pipping hot and fresh STROOPWAFFLE from Goudstroop. Paired with a FLORAL GINGER & ORANGE LEMONADE from Amy’s Frozen Yoghurt and I felt the day was complete.

The ride back to Amsterdam Centraal was comfortable and relaxing.

Overall, I greatly appreciated the organized nature of the Rotterdam, Delft, The Hague and Madurodam tour. It was yet another outstanding tour produced by Tours and Tickets.

As we walked from Amsterdam Centraal toward the metro station,  I saw a bag decorated with the words “the only trip you’ll regret is the one you didn’t take.”
Truer words cannot be spoken.
