The Plaza Cafe

Lunch at The Plaza Cafe offered Dutch favorites in a relaxed setting in Oranjestad, Aruba.

After a lovely morning of shopping at the mall (remember, you get more favorable prices and no sales tax on luxury goods in Aruba), it was time for lunch.

Humorously enough, the extremely kind saleswoman at Gucci pointed us in the direction of where to eat delicious Dutch food in Oranjestad – The Plaza Cafe at the Renaissance Marketplace.

After a short walk and finding the location in the mall, we were quickly seated.

I started with the BITTERBALLEN (Deep-fried Dutch croquette balls). They were delicious to dip and eat with mustard.

We continued with the CHICKEN SATÉ (3 Skewers, peanut sauce, crispy onion, coleslaw and fries) which is my absolute favorite Dutch dish.

In fact, I still think of this – and the satay I had at De Dijk in Volendam, the Netherlands, fondly.

There is something about chicken smothered in peanut sauce that hits.

Lunch at The Plaza Cafe was a delicious pause in the day.
