Sushi Yuzu

With delicious flavors mixed with fresh ingredients, Sushi Yuzu in Toluca Lake is one of my favorite sushi spots in Toluca Lake, California

Meeting Kyle for lunch was a happy change of pace.  Since he works as an editor on a high volume television show with an intense shooting schedule, it’s rare that I get to see him even twice a year. Luckily, during a brief show hiatus, we were able to set a time for lunch, as a welcomed way to go to one of my favorite sushi spots in Toluca Lake.

Sushi Yuzu reminds me of my other favorite sushi restaurant in Southern California, Arigato Sushi in Santa Barbara. The delicious combinations of flavors make it a pleasure to savor.

We started off with ordering my favorite rolls on the menu: the LIME ROOL (Albacore Roll with Avocado, Salmon outside and sliced Jalapeno, Black Pepper on top, Yuzu Ponzu Dressing) and the YUZU ROLL (Albacore Roll with Sliced Avocado, Yellowtail, Cilantro, Jalapeno, Crispy Onion, and Micro Green on top with Garlic oil Ponzu Sauce).

Yet again, it’s easy to see how these two rolls are the top – in my opinion – at Sushi Yuzu. They are outstanding.

Kyle suggested the KAISEN FUTOMAKI (Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Crab, Yuzu Tobiko, Cucumber, Cooked Shiitake Mushroom, and Shiso Leaf). This was also good.

ASIAN ROLL (Shrimp Tempura & Asparagus inside, Spicy Tuna & Avocado outside w/ Soy Paper, Asian Sauce on top) was also a top choice of an order.

We ended with the FUTO MAKI (Unagi, Ebi, Omelet, Shiso Leat, Kanpyo Squash, Gobo Root, Cucumber, and Plum Sauce).

Now, perhaps due to the wait, I was a bit underwhelmed with this roll. This was not my favorite of the order. If I could do it again, I would have passed and ordered something else. But, I am happy that I tried it in order to know more about my preferences.

Overall, Sushi Yuzu is absolutely delicious and always leaves me happy to think about my next return.
