Waking up on New Year’s Day in San Diego carries a particular kind of optimism — the city makes it easy to believe the year ahead is going to be good. The first order of business, as it should always be, was breakfast.
I wanted to try somewhere new, which led me to a quick search and, shortly after – to Spill the Beans in the Gaslamp District.
A cup of coffee with the LOX, STOCK & BAGEL (Lox, tomato, red onion, cucumber, fried capers, wasabi-ginger cream cheese) on a SERRANO, HABANERO & JACK CHEESE did the trick.
Good coffee, a great bagel, good company, and the Gaslamp District coming to life was a vibe. Spill the Beans delivered exactly what a New Year’s morning calls for: something delicious, unpretentious, and grounding. It set the tone for the day and for the energy of the rest of my year.
