River tubing on Clear Creek with Adventure West in Golden, Colorado, was an exhilarating ride filled with exciting rapids and beautiful vistas
It’s always wonderful when I have a friend that has the time to meet up with me for an adventure! During a previous visit to Golden with her sister, Rosemary happened to notice an influx of people enjoying tubing down the Clear Creek river. Excited, she texted me that we should consider tubing down the river as well. As I’d never gone river tubing – only kayaking and river rafting – I was incredibly intrigued. So, we made plans to meet in Golden and experience river tubing for ourselves.
Adventure West makes tubing extremely easy. On the website, we decided on the GOLDEN WHITEWATER TUBE & SHUTTLE option, as it proudly says “Tube/shuttle package saves you 2 1/2 miles of walking with your tube!” This was the best choice for us, and the best value for our time.
River tubing down Clear Creek was one of those experiences that makes you feel like a kid again. From the moment I dipped into the cool mountain water, I could feel the excitement build as the current gently swept me away. The water wasn’t too fast but just swift enough to keep it fun and engaging. Floating past the stunning views of the Rocky Mountain foothills, I couldn’t help but soak in the natural beauty surrounding me. Every now and then, the breeze would blow through the trees, adding to the peacefulness of the moment.
As I floated along, the occasional rapid would pop up, giving me a jolt of adrenaline. I remember laughing out loud as I navigated through a particularly bumpy stretch, feeling the splash of water on my face, and realizing how much I had missed this kind of carefree, outdoor fun. It’s these moments—when you’re fully present and just enjoying the ride—that remind you why you love being out in nature. Plus, it was so fun to know Rosemary was enjoying the experience, just as much as I was.
By the end of our two runs, I was tired, exhilarated, and exceptionally happy – and more than ready for our next stop at The Golden Mill for beers and lunch.
