After a long day of motoring (best way to describe it, how quaint) around the Monterey Peninsula (Exploring the 17-Mile Drive in Pebble Beach on California’s Monterey Peninsula), it was time to return to our glamping campground (Glamping Underneath the Redwoods at Alila Ventana Big Sur) for a light rest before dinner.
Now, the best thing about traveling with your dog – is that you’re traveling with your dog. The worst? Finding places that also love your dog and allow them to experience the evening with you – without having to drive out of the area. Luckily, Big Sur Taphouse – which was recommended by another Big Sur local – checked off all the boxes. It had what I wanted: beer and what we needed: a dog friendly patio.
Happily, Big Sur Taphouse was merely 10 minutes away from Ventana Campground. With easy to find parking out front, I was happy as we ventured inside.

The upstairs area – where dogs are allowed – was expansive and really pretty.

After some back and forth with the beer tender, I settled on the Classic Chicken Tenders (Jumbo breaded chicken tenders served with a large side of our crispy shoestring fries. With sides of buttermilk ranch & ketchup for dippin’). In addition, I also got a side of buffalo sauce, because I really walked in craving hot wings. But, as they only have hot wings on Thursdays, I found this was a bootleg way to deliver on my craving.

It vibed well with the glass of North Coast Brewing Company’s Old No 38 stout (5.4% – Irish Dry Stout).

Overall, a fantastic end to a lovely few days in Big Sur, California.
