Deetjen’s Big Sur Inn Restaurant

There is something beautiful about waking up in a cove filled with redwoods, listening to a creek run by your tent. Waking up bright and early while glamping underneath the redwoods at Alila Ventana Big Sur,  there was only one thing on my mind: a cozy cup of coffee and breakfast at a Big Sur restaurant that allowed dogs.

Luckily, when we checked in the night before, I smartly asked the guy at the gate if he had any suggestions to any pet friendly dining spots in Big Sur. Immediately, he offered Deetjen’s Big Sur Inn’s restaurant as a solution. A quick morning call confirmed that they allowed dogs in their outdoor patio. So, less than 15 minutes later, we arrived.

Immediately, I loved the location. Nestled in its own pocket of buildings off of Highway 1, it felt – cozy.

Settling in, I began with a cup of Deetjen’s Blend Acme Coffee. This went splendidly with my Stuffed French Toast with Real Maple Syrup (stuffed with strawberry cream cheese and whipped cream on the side) with Berries, of course.

Breakfast would not be complete without bacon.

And I was able to watch my new favorite show: “How Are They Going To Get Out Of That Parking Spot?”

Truly, breakfast at Deetjen’s Big Sur Inn Restaurant was a wonderful – and dog friendly – way to start our day of exploring the Monterey Peninsula.
