Pebble Beach Market

Pebble Beach Market offers made-to-order sandwiches, fresh salads, and wines with stunning outdoor views along 17-Mile Drive

There’s something about driving along the California coastline that just makes me happy – I can’t fully explain it, but I’ve stopped trying to. I just go with it.

It helps when you can pair that drive with a lunch spot where comfort and a touch of luxury come together in the right way.

We were in the middle of exploring the 17-Mile Drive through Pebble Beach on California’s Monterey Peninsula when we needed a snack break. I pulled into the Pebble Beach Visitors Center, which sits right next to the Pebble Beach Market — a deli that’s worth knowing about if you’re passing through.

Relaxing in the sun, I devoured half of the Little Italy (dried italian salami, smoked ham, sundried tomato spread, provolone cheese, olive tapenade, leafy greens, pepperoncinis, tomato, onion & pickles served on a french sourdough roll) with a bag of Dirty Chips Funky Fusion.

Onnik and I sat outside in the sun and took our time, which felt entirely appropriate given the surroundings.

The Visitors Center was also worth a look beyond the food. It’s well put-together and gave me a real sense of Pebble Beach’s golf history and reputation. Browsing around, I found myself thinking about my friend Terrin and the standing plan we’ve had for a while to get back to the driving range. Nothing like being in Pebble Beach to nudge that conversation along.
