Elephant Seal Vista Point at Piedras Blancas Rookery

Elephant Seal Vista Point is a year-round wildlife stop where northern elephant seals haul ashore to birth pups and mate near San Simeon, CA

I still remember the first time, years ago, when I first stopped at the elephant seal vista point near the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse in San Simeon. I noticed the sign as I was driving by, stopped, turned around and parked. Walking to the overlook, I just stared in amazement. Here were elephant seals, chilling, playing and freely existing outside of a zoo.

Fast forward a few years and it’s always bee a delight to visit on my way up the coast. I still remember that after taking my mom to Hearst Castle, I stopped by the elephant seal beach to watch her delight and amusement.

It’s a lovely vista point to view the elephant seals. I’ve been visiting here for decades.
