Light bites and a cocktail at Twenty Eight Bar & Lounge at Conrad Tokyo was the perfect hour long pause in a busy day

After an absolutely lovely time at teamLab Planets TOKYO in the Toyosu area of Tokyo, we made our way back to the Conrad Tokyo. In need of a midday snack, we settled on eating at Twenty Eight, a lovely restaurant with refined décor in the lobby of the hotel.

I ordered the ORANGE NEGRONI (Aperol, Tiffin, Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru, Non-Alcoholic Gin Nema, Cranberry, Cardamon Bitters, Orange, Rosemary). It is not an understatement to say it was one of the most beautiful drinks I’ve ever been presented with in my drinking life. Plus, one of the best tasting.

The amuse-bouche was a type of sweet chip paired with triangle flaky cracker. It was a nice starting snack to enjoy while overlooking Tokyo Bay.

Next up was my main dish of FRIES. Anything else other than fries? No. Just fries.

I lied to myself, thinking that I wasn’t that hungry and just ordered fries. Meanwhile, my partner ordered the more substantial COBB SALAD. One of us had more practical foresight than the other. When my order arrived, I realized my mind had lied to my stomach. Dumb AF but it was what it was.

Nevertheless, the fries were delicious. The ketchup tasted decidedly non-American and homemade. However, if I had foresight for the later afternoon events, I would’ve ordered  the hamburger or something much more substantial.

However, the best decisions are made in hindsight because you didn’t have the foresight to make them in the moment. I simply need to remember that I have a bad problem with under eating the right amount of calories when I travel.

Beyond this, our afternoon snacks at Twenty Eight were delicious.
