The Taco Stand in La Jolla offers authentic Baja-inspired fare with fresh ingredients in a casual setting
After a fantastic weekend in San Diego, it was time to head back to Los Angeles. Sonni had raved about her experience at The Taco Stand’s North Park location, so I was eager to try it. Wanting to avoid the hassle of city parking, my friend and I opted for the La Jolla location instead.

As we stood in line, the menu looked fantastic. I was in the mood for something light yet flavorful. So, I ordered the CARNE ASADA (Flame grilled angus steak, cilantro, onions, guacamole & salsa) and the BAJA TACO (Battered fish, cabbage, cilantro, tomato, onions & chipotle sauce).
The signs proudly stated that everything was made fresh to order, but I didn’t realize that meant waiting long enough to feel like they were fishing the fish straight from the ocean and butchering the cow on-site. The wait felt exceptionally long, but eventually, the to-go bag was ready.

While driving up the 5 freeway, I eagerly devoured both tacos. They were undeniably tasty – but would have been far better enjoyed fresh, vibing in the breeze from the Pacific Ocean back in La Jolla.

Overall, The Taco Stand delivered on flavor, and I’d happily return to one of their locations. Hopefully, at a time when the wait isn’t quite so long.
