There’s something special about reconnecting with friends. And not just any type of friend – the kind that you’ve had in your life since your middle school and high school days. Those that have seen you grow, change, and navigate life’s twists and turns.
It’s been a few years since I’d had the pleasure of seeing my friend Patrick. Life and grief sometimes gets in the way of intentions. But, when we suggested that he, Sara and I meet at The Sycamore Kitchen for brunch, it just felt – right.

From the moment we sat down, it felt like no time had passed. Conversations between the three of us flowed effortlessly. We moved between high school memories and life updates. The energy of the patio was vibrant as I enjoyed the two side dishes I’d ordered to create a main dish – the APPLE CHICKEN SAUSAGE and BREAKFAST POTATOES.
No matter how much time passes or how different our lives become, I truly value that when Patrick, Sara and I get the opportunity to gather, the time melts away.
Adult friendships – especially those rooted in shared history – are invaluable. They remind us where we’ve been, celebrate where we are, and – perhaps most importantly – encourage us toward where we’re going in life.
