The best part about meeting Hilary over a casual conversation while we were both getting our nails done – is the beautiful friendship that has developed between us, from it. She’s the reason I found The Pottery Studio, which now allows me to build my ceramics art practice. In short, it’s been awesome getting to know her. So, when I said we should meet for dinner to really dive deep into conversation, she picked the speakeasy The Rendition Room, located in the back of Vitello’s Restaurant.

What I loved about The Rendition Room is how much it reminded me of Youngblood in San Diego. I loved being lead to the back of the restaurant, through a hidden door and to our seat in the imitate bar. Lovely vintage 1940s songs played from the jukebox. It was a very fun and unique interior – with more delights yet to come.

Browsing the menu, I noticed they had a rather extensive cocktail list with delicious descriptions. I ordered the BUSINESS WITH PLEASURE (gin, yellow chartreuse, lemon juice, orgeat, blue curacao mist).

For dinner, I ordered the CITRUS SHRIMP LINGUINE (pan seared shrimp, lemon cream sauce, orange flower spritz) with the STUDIO SLING (gin, benedictine, pineapple & lime juices, creme de violet, lavender, hibiscus, mure, soda).

Now, while I would 100% recommend the citrus shrimp linguine, as it was absolutely delicious, I wouldn’t recommend the Studio Sling alongside of it. It didn’t add anything to the dish, like a glass of wine would have. It was sparkly and light with the benedictine and floral essences. However, I should have ordered a wine for a more cohesive paring.

Overall, dinner together at The Rendition Room was nice. It was lovely to finally experience the room and have a space for quiet conversation in an intimate setting.
