The Dove Inn in Golden, Colorado, is a charming, boutique bed-and-breakfast offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with vintage-inspired décor.
In planning my trip to Colorado, I knew that I wanted to spend some time in Golden or Boulder. As I’ve wanted to see a show at Red Rocks since I was in undergrad at the University of Denver, I knew that this was going to be the trip that I would make it happen.
Speaking of this – listening to Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats – as the full moon rose over Denver – was incredible. Well worth blindly booking a ticket without listening to any of his songs. New fan made.
But, back to it. As I settled on desiring to stay in Golden, another quick search led to The Dove Inn. I compared the Dove Inn’s website reservation system to Airbnb’s and decided to book the Clear Creek Room through Airbnb. This kept all communication in the app and easy to access.
Check In: Clear Creek Room
Booking through Airbnb enabled me to receive both emails and texts regarding communication and instructions on entering the property and accessing my room. I was able to circle the block and find parking on 14th Street. With ease, I was able to take my bags up the sidewalk stairs, the stairs to the two flights of stairs from the sidewalk to the entrance of building and into Clear Creek Room.
The room was accessible via a numerical keypad.
Now, I will say that this is a great room for one person for two nights. The decor was modern and updated. The room was cooled from an air conditioning unit, installed in the front facing window.
The bed was comfortable. Snuggling in, it actually felt like being in my own bed at home.
I appreciated that the WC and the shower were separated, into two separate rooms.
I appreciated the mix of Nature’s Bakery Fig Bar, Nature Valley’s Sweet and Salty Peanut bar, Country Archer Provisions Mini Beef Stick and Kirkland Signature Trail Mix in a little container for my enjoyment. I also appreciated the large bottle of water provided – as it was MUCH needed, while adventuring in the altitude.
Communal Space
The communal space of the converted home was beautiful. The blues and yellows balanced out the rich color tones and contrasted beautifully with the wood and brick.
What I primarily enjoyed during my first night at The Dove Inn was sitting out in the open patio in the front of the house. It had been MUCH too long since I’d had the pleasure of sitting out and watching time pass.
That’s the beauty of vacations. It gives you time to pause. I greatly enjoyed watching the bees buzz and play in the luscious lavender bush as I wrote outside.
Parking
Even though the check in instructions say that there is parking in front of the hotel, it’s not all night. The parking signs are 2 hour max signs, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. However, there is an addendum that states “No parking 2am to 5am”.
So, your best bet is to park in front of the hotel for loading and unloading. But, remember to move your car to the downtown Golden parking structure at 1250 Jackson St, which is 0.1 mile away / 2 blocks from the Inn.
The current link for parking in Golden is Park Golden Colorado. It’s an extremely simple process. Plus, I was able to reserve two hours of parking for the next morning, which allowed me to relax and get to my parked rental with ease every morning.
Location
The location of The Dove Inn was perfect for everything that I wanted to experience in Golden. From walking to Nosu Ramen for dinner to Cafe 13 for breakfast, downtown Golden was extremely accessible.
Overall
Overall, I felt that booking a room at The Dove Inn was perfect for my short stay in Golden, Colorado. It was close to Red Rocks Amphitheater, walking distance to great spots in Downtown Golden and – most importantly – comfortable.
