As the weekday eased into the weekend, Sara surprised me with a rare pocket of free time for a drink and dinner. Given her demanding schedule and full family life, I was genuinely thrilled and eager to plan something easy and comfortable.
Our original idea, Formans Whiskey Tavern, turned out to be a chaotic no-go since it was completely packed and far from relaxing. Just a few doors down, I suggested we pivot to Spin the Bottle Wine Studio.
It was the right call. The vibe was calm, elevated, and refreshingly unhurried. I loved the bottle shop tucked in the back and the relaxed, approachable bar up front.
With the Los Angeles heat lingering well into the evening, I opted for a chilled glass of the 2022 CARUSO & MININI “NEBACCO” NERO D’AVOLA FROM SICILY. It was light, juicy, and exactly what I needed.
We settled into a couch and let the week fall away.
It was such a joy to spend time with one of my favorite friends in a space that felt like an exhale. When we were ready, we crossed the street to Sushi Yuzu for dinner.
It was simple, spontaneous, and absolutely lovely.
