The Lodge at Healdsburg features modern accommodations that offer a comfortable and stylish retreat for exploring the Sonoma wine country.
There are rare moments in life when wanderlust calls so loudly, all you can do is answer. For me, one of those moments arrived in the form of a $50 round-trip flight from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area.
At that price, the only answer is yes.
When it came to where I’d stay, I felt it was time to try a new place rather than revisit my usual hotel, Hotel Centro Sonoma Wine Country, Tapestry by Hilton in Rohnert Park. After a bit of searching, I was drawn to The Lodge at Healdsburg. It felt like the right mix of escape and elegance.
With my Fjällräven Färden Carry-On Pack with me, I set off for Northern California.
Overview
After a leisurely drive through the soft hills of Napa and dinner with Jessica in the Albany neighborhood of Berkeley, I finally arrived in Healdsburg. The moment I pulled into the property, I was struck by its quiet beauty. The Lodge has a distinctly elevated charm. It felt earthy, serene, and effortlessly refined. The flowers were exceptionally gorgeous.

Check In
One thing I did not expect at a hotel of this caliber is that the hotel check in is at the bar. But, it worked.

Room + Stay
Opening the door to my room was like a deep exhale – it was everything I had hoped for. The interiors were thoughtfully designed, warm and inviting, with a luxurious bed that practically begged me to sink in.

Until I realized that I could hear the conversations outside, very loudly.
Turns out, my room was above the meeting space rooms, which a group had rented for a child’s party. The windows were not double pained, so I heard their atrociously loud conversations and the loud pitch of the music through my closed sliding door.
It was – frustrating to say the least.
So, I made the best of the situation and took my computer to the lobby to write. After an hour or so, when it got too warm in the lobby, I moved outside to a fireplace.

When I returned to my room later, the party was gone. I fell asleep easy, as the bed was exceptionally comfortable. I lazily woke up, unbothered and refreshed.

A long soak in the bathtub later in my stay turned out to be another highlight. There was something almost meditative about it. I felt like shedding layers of stress I didn’t realize I was carrying.
I emerged feeling lighter, more centered, as if I had reclaimed a bit of myself.
Overall
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at The Lodge at Healdsburg. Yes, It was an eye roll to have to pay $10 for parking my car overnight. But, the design, the setting, the view of the moon rising from my balcony, and the fireplace all contributed to an experience that was deeply satisfying.
