There are some places that I come across that just spark my curiosity. When it was time for Adam and I to make plans to meet for dinner, I wanted to find a place that was both unique and in an interesting part of Los Angeles. During my search, Pijja Palace stood out.
An Indian sports bar in Silverlake? Sure, why not. With Adam’s yes, I booked a reservation for 2.

Settling in, I looked around the restaurant. It was – very Silverlake trendy and unique. It reminded me of the vibe of the now closed Button Mash’s restaurant, Poltergeist.
I started with the BANANA RUM DAIQUIRI (banana liqueur, rum).
Next up, were the stunningly delicious PIRI PIRI FRIES (lime pickle raita, ketchup). This was a taste explosion in my mouth! I absolutely loved the combination of distinct Indian spices, squirts from the accompanying slices of lime and dabs of flavor from the lime picket raita and ketchup. This was my favorite dish of the evening.
To go with our pizza, I enjoy a glass of the MANGO-MALAI LEMONADE (ginger, yogurt, cardamom). This felt like a spicier version of a mango lassi.
The GREEN TIKKA MASALA PIJJA (green tomato tikka masala, onion, turkey kofta, cilantro) should have had more meat.
To finish, we split a beer and a cup of COOKIES AND CARDAMOM soft serve ice cream.
Overall, this place is very – Silverlake. Which I feel is now younger version of Echo Park. The flavors were good. But other aspects – like the pizza – felt priced higher than what you received. Even Adam said that he wished the pizza had – more. More turkey kofta on the pizza, specifically. Especially, for being a few dollars away from $30.
Again, this is a nice Indian fusion restaurant in the trendy heart of Silverlake – as the Comfort Inn hotel’s courtyard restaurant.
Would I return?
Yes, for the fries and wings.
But, I would come early because it becomes too cool for school after about 9pm.
