Bar Siesta is a Spanish tapas and wine bar in Silverlake, offering a menu of tapas with a Spanish inspired beverage program
Before we knew it, months had passed since Erik and I last saw each other. We decided to catch up over dinner in Silverlake, and Erik suggested Bar Siesta. A quick look at their menu and ambiance got me excited. I couldn’t wait to enjoy dinner and tapas together.

Sitting down, it felt that the time between us melted away. Browsing the drink menu, I ordered the SHERRY BOMB (Palomino Fino, Quinquina En Rama, dry vermouth).
Out first was the HAND-CARVED JAMÓN IBERICO DE BELLOTA SIESTA CO. (1.5 oz) alongside the two orders of CROQUETAS DE JAMÓN Y MANCHEGO.

Next up was the PAN CON TOMATE (grilled Bub’s focaccia, Beylik tomato & garlic).
Then the TORTILLA ESPAÑOLA (Weiser potatoes, piquillos, aioli) with the ENSALADA VERDE (Roots salanovas, fennel, pimentón vinaigrette).

The main tapas of the evening, the PINCHO MORUNO DE CORDERO (grilled Sonoma lamb loin, mojo verde).
We both wanted just one more thing. So, Erik ordered us the MORCILLA CON LENTEJAS A LA SIDRA (Cuyama apples, chorizo, pardina lentils, Asturian cider). To go with this and our dessert of the evening, I ordered a glass of the Ostatu’s ‘Crianza’ , a 2018 Tempranillo from Spain.

Our final order of the evening, the BASQUE CHEESECAKE (dusted with clove, Torta del Casar) was absolutely delicious. Perhaps, it was my favorite dish of the evening. It was served warm, with the flavor of the cheese shining through. I absolutely loved this dish.
As we closed our tab and exited the restaurant, I appreciated that our evening together at Bar Siesta was a feast for the senses.
Each Spanish inspired dish offered a delightful mix of flavors, well crafted for a memorable dinner. Dinner at Bar Siesta was a perfect way to reconnect with Erik and celebrate our friendship together.
