After an eye-rolling escrow closed, I needed time to process my own personal tragedy and sense of profound loss. My internal feelings became overwhelming and I needed to get away.

Besides, nothing is more satisfying than receiving a notification that your compensation wire transfer for closing escrow is complete – while sipping on a cocktail, relaxing next to a pool in a lounge chair.

So, to get out of Los Angeles, I planned a friendship trip with Johann to Las Vegas. And, left him to planning the dinner reservations.

For the first night, he booked us a table at Mizumi, at the Wynn Las Vegas.

All I remember is that I ordered a BURNT OLD FASHIONED (Mars Iwai 45 Japanese Whisky, Orange Bitters, Okinawa Black Sugar, Burnt Persimmon) to start. Everything else just flowed, naturally.

Notable outstanding pieces were the ROBATA PLATTER (black tiger shrimp, chicken yakitori, beef tenderloin, shishito peppers, shiitake mushrooms) and the BLUEFIN TUNA TATAKI (emulsified ponzu, soy marinated garlic, rice cracker).

Overall, dining at Mizumi was a lovely experience.
