Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, Autograph Collection

My stay at Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, Autograph Collection was the perfect place to stay for my first time in Montreux, Switzerland

It’s incredible to reflect on – but the main reason why I booked a stay at the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, Autograph Collection because I received a generous Marriott gift card from a friend. The gift card was so lovely, that it seemed pointless to use it in the United States.

So, after exploring Marriott options in Switzerland – mainly Geneva proper and the surrounding area, I chose to book the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic in Montreux.

I later read more about the fabulous history of the hotel –

The Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, Autograph Collection, nestled along the serene shores of Lake Geneva in Montreux, Switzerland, traces its origins back to 1870 when Alexandre Emery established the Hotel Majestic. Initially conceived as a haven for discerning travelers seeking respite in Montreux’s picturesque landscape, the hotel swiftly garnered renown for its opulent accommodations and impeccable service.

Over the decades, the Majestic evolved, undergoing expansions and renovations to meet the evolving demands of its prestigious clientele. Its proximity to the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival further elevated its status, attracting luminaries from the worlds of music, literature, and politics.

In a testament to its enduring legacy, the Hotel Majestic transitioned into the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic – and later, the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, Autograph Collection, symbolizing its grandeur and timeless appeal. Through the years, it has retained its reputation as one of Montreux’s premier luxury destinations, offering guests an unparalleled experience of Swiss hospitality amidst breathtaking Alpine vistas.

Maintenant….

Getting to the hotel from the Geneva Airport and accompanying train station was extremely easy. I took the IR90, and extremely comfortable and beautiful Swiss train,  toward Brig. It was surreal to watch Lake Geneva and the towns pass by my window.

Upon stepping out of the regional train station, I was relieved to see the hotel directly across the stress. All at once, I was incredibly pleased about my choice of place to stay. The hotel was architecturally stunning and truly pleasing to the eye.

Service

Check in to the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, Autograph Collection was a lesson is the pleasure of Swiss service. Even though I’d arrived around 11am, I was able to check into my room without hassle.

During the whole of my stay, the front desk team was incredibly helpful. I received wonderful suggestions on where to eat, where to go and how to get there. Every question I had, the hotel staff answered with thoughtfulness and intellect.

I received guidance on how to reach Glacier 3000, Château de Chillon and suggestions on where to eat in the area. When I needed train time table print outs, they provided them without pushback.

Hotel service is just so much better in Europe. Especially, in regards to higher starred hotel properties. There is something comforting in knowing that you don’t have to fight to get the service level that you have paid for. It just effortlessly – is.

Also, why is everyone is Switzerland so beautiful? Must be the fact that they pretty much all speak three languages at the drop of a hat. And, that everyone is well paid for what they do.

Stay

Once I walked into my room, room 609, I was visually enraptured with my surroundings. In fact, pleased in an understatement. I was in love with my room. My chosen room, with a balcony and full view of Lake Geneva and France on the other side, was absolutely incredible.

I was in awe.

The in room products were L’Occitane en Provence – which was SUCH a welcomed difference from the usual products that I encounter. Now, I love Le Labo as much as anyone. In fact, I relish all of the perfumes from their line – especially THÉ NOIR 29 and GAIAC 10.

But, it’s nice to see L’Occitane en Provence in hotels. Especially, in Europe.

The hotel restaurant, 45 Grill & Health was perfect for a late lunch. Plus, the floor to ceiling windows were absolutely life giving.

As the rain stopped a light drizzle, it was absolutely incredible to see the panorama of sights across Lake Geneva from my dining table.

Location

Combined with the hotel’s perfect location across from the Montreux train station and close proximity to the bus stop, I cannot recommend Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic enough. It’s closer to the train station than the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace. And, since it was raining during my visit to Switzerland and I did not rent a car, I appreciated this.

Overall

My stay at Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, Autograph Collection made me fall in love with Switzerland and life. The hotel enchanted me, during my too short of a stay.

It truly has a blend of old-world charm and modern luxurious amenities, embodying the essence of Montreux’s rich cultural heritage while remaining an icon of luxury hospitality on the shores of Lake Geneva.
