The Evening Canal Cruise through Amsterdam with Lover’s Canal Cruises was the perfect touch to my visit to Amsterdam
Arriving in Amsterdam from our flight to Denmark, we had some time before dinner at Sichuan Restaurant Amsterdam – Warmoesstraat. After remembering my previous Evening Canal Cruise through Amsterdam with Lover’s Canal Cruises, I booked us a boat trip to relax and explore once more.
Unfortunately, due to the light rain in the forecast, the scenic cruise was not as lovely as before. However, I did enjoy the difference in sights and I appreciated that they seem to change things up.
Overall, it was much better than sitting in our hotel room at the Hyatt Regency Amsterdam, going back and forth in wondering what to do. And, I definitely look forward to taking the cruise again – perhaps the wine and cheese one on a not so rainy day.
Or, Friendship Amsterdam looked interesting as well.

Previously: Walking the streets of Amsterdam, I knew that the last thing on my to do list was to take a boat ride on the canals. Now, I did not need booze, I also did not need a super private experience. All I wanted was a cruise that provided information about the history of Amsterdam and an opportunity to take some amusing evening photos.
After enjoying my time during the Amsterdam: Zaanse Schans, Volendam, and Marken Day Trip by Tours & Tickets, I knew I wanted just one more thing to do that evening. So, after dinner at Lotti’s at the Hoxton, I began my walk to the Prins Hendrikkade 25, the Lover’s Canal Cruises dock for a sunset cruise of the canals.
Getting increasingly used to the short walk down to Amsterdam Centraal Station from The Hoxton, Amsterdam, this particular walk was a pleasure. Getting there, I took a few amusing photos in evening light.
I arrived a bit earlier than expected for my 9pm ride. About 30 minutes earlier. In fact, I was so early that instead of waiting for the 9pm ride, the staff allow me to go ahead with the tour that was just about to start.
I found myself seated next to a lovely couple who had proudly been married for 40 years, from North Carolina by way of Florida and New York. We chatted during the duration of the boat tour, which took us along a decent amount of historical points in the city.
It was primary a plug in with your earphones and listen along as a pre recorded tour played. The tour boat operator interjected with interesting jokes and fun statements along the way.
Overall, it was a rather pleasing light hearted cruise around the canals. The photos I took were lovely. Plus, I got to learn a little bit more about the city and country.
My night’s walk back to The Hoxton, Amsterdam, was a pleasurable stroll.
