I woke from a comfortable night’s sleep at The Monsaraz San Diego, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, feeling ready for the day ahead. When a friend unexpectedly canceled our planned breakfast at Blue Whale in La Jolla, I decided that a simple morning at the hotel’s restaurant, Unico’s, would be just as fitting.
The walk from my room to the restaurant was brief. I chose a seat by the window, welcoming the warmth of the early sun.

The day began, as it should with a cup of DRIP COFFEE.

As I’m trying to be more conscious of foods that give me energy vs empty calories, I continued with an order of HOUSE OATMEAL (cinnamon syrup, blueberries, oat milk, shaved almonds).

Everything arrived beautifully presented and quietly satisfying. As the sunlight warmed my face, I found myself reflecting on a few meaningful conversations I’d recently had with friends. Despite the quick 24-hour turnaround, the drive from Los Angeles to San Diego felt like hitting a reset button.
That’s the interesting thing about San Diego. It’s close to Los Angeles, yet it feels like an entirely different world. Maybe it’s the coastal landscape, but San Diego truly has a distinct vibe all its own.
As I finished my meal, I felt grounded and ready for my experience: Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines: Watching PGA Tour Golf from Suite 16.
