Baba

My two visits to Baba at the Kimpton Charlotte Square were chill and great starts to my evenings in Edinburgh.

Settling into to my first night at Kimpton Charlotte Square, I knew that I wanted to enjoy a drink at the hotel bar before venturing out to see what the city held. After lightly resting in my room, I walked down to Baba.

My first night, I ordered the BANOFFEE OLD FASHIONED (spiced rum, banana liqueur, hive whisky, bitters) which was described in the menu as “rich, decadent, delightfully balanced” drink.

Personally, I think the coconut shavings didn’t add anything special to the drink. However, the beverage itself was decent. Was it my favorite Old Fashioned I’ve ever had? Nope. But, again – it was decent. Finishing it, I later walked a bit and ordered dinner at Dirty Dick’s Pub.

Later during my stay, before eventually having dinner at Gusto, I ordered the RHUBARB SOUR (mezcal, rhubarb and ginger gin, vanilla, lime, egg white) which was described in the menu as “the perfect blend of tangy, sweet and smoky notes.” Honestly, I liked the Rhubarb Sour more than the Banoffee Old Fashioned. It lived up to it’s description notes.

Overall, my two visits to Baba were delightfully chill and great starts to my evenings in Edinburgh.
