To say that Deja and I’s morning on the slopes was a workout - would be an understatement (Snowboarding Mammoth Mountain: Canyon Lodge). So, after a break to do our things and rest, Deja suggested that we meet for dinner at Dos Alas CubaRican Cafe & Lounge.
Immediately, I found the atmosphere and vibe absolutely charming.

Deja and I both ordered Golden State’s JAMAICA HIBISCUS Cider – which was refreshing and delicious.

Our Tostones (Green plantains, sliced, smashed; then fried again, to make delicious golden fritters. Served with mojo and mayoketchup) were a solid choice. I loved dousing them with the house made Pique sauce, made from pickled peppers and vinegar. It reminded me of my mom’s Southern style “cha cha.”

For dinner, I decided to go with a solid classic: the Cuban Sandwich (house made guava glazed ham, roasted garlic pork, Swiss cheese, mustard, pickles). It was fantastic – and exceptionally large. I could see why it was the price it was. It gave me food for that night – and my drive back to Los Angeles the next day.

After a long day on the mountain, Dos Alas CubaRican Cafe & Lounge was exactly what we needed – comforting food, good music, and the vibe that let an incredible, deep conversation unfold naturally.
