Limelight Mammoth

Limelight Mammoth is a modern mountain hotel in Mammoth Lakes offering a relaxed, social atmosphere and easy access to outdoor adventures

Sometimes the way information finds me feels almost accidental. I first heard about the Limelight Hotel brand during a conversation at the bar at Moxy Boulder, where Ryan - the head bartender at the time - was preparing to leave to launch the cocktail program at the soon to open Limelight Boulder.

As we talked about the brand, he mentioned Limelight’s new property in Mammoth Lakes, and I quietly hoped it would open in time for me to use my IKON pass for snowboarding.

Luckily, it did. As I planned my Mammoth Lakes trip to visit Deja and get back on the mountain - hopefully this time not in a blizzard (Snowboarding Mammoth Mountain: Eagle Lodge) I made sure to plan it to match Limelight Mammoth’s opening.

Check In

After a smooth four hour and twenty minute drive from Los Angeles, arriving at Limelight Mammoth felt easy and welcoming. The front desk staff struck a great balance between professional and personable, setting a relaxed tone from the start. Plus, I loved the lobby. It was warm, open and inviting.

Room and Stay

From the moment I stepped into my room, I was struck by how spacious and well-designed it felt. The room felt warm, inviting, and intentionally designed. Most importantly, it felt impeccably clean – a detail that matters more than anything after a long travel day.

The Juliette balcony opened to sweeping views of the Eastern Sierra Nevada range.

The bathroom was equally impressive. Especially the generously sized shower, which became a favorite of mine.

While this location doesn’t offer the welcome beer I’d experienced at Limelight Denver, I was happy to use the familiar Theragun selection.

And I loved waiting up, watching the sunrise and writing while drinking a delicious cup of coffee.

Parking

Parking at Limelight Mammoth is valet only, priced at $35 per night. Given the convenience of not having to navigate Mammoth Village parking and haul gear around, it felt acceptable.

Outside

The outdoor grounds were beautiful. I didn’t end up going to the hot tub or the pool. But, they looked great.

Shuttle

Did I take the shuttle to go a few yards up to Mammoth Village to meet my friend Deja to take the gondola up to Canyon Lodge (Snowboarding Mammoth Mountain: Canyon Lodge)? Yes I certainly did. And it was comfortable and quick.

The Bar at Limelight Mammoth

After a slightly rocky start the first night, my overall experience at The Bar at Limelight Mammoth ended on a decent note.  Yvonne, one of the bartenders, sparked a thoughtful and engaging conversation, and Morgan was equally warm and attentive.

The following afternoon, Nikki, the food and beverage supervisor, truly stood out. Her presence elevated the experience, reinforcing how much great hospitality can shape a stay.

The Restaurant at Limelight Mammoth

Breakfast was included in my daily rate, and the morning buffet was a welcome and convenient way to start the day (Breakfast at Limelight Mammoth). It was carb hearty and exactly what I want before heading out to the mountain.

Overall

Overall, I genuinely loved my stay at Limelight Mammoth. It delivered a sense of comfortable, modern luxury right at the base of Mammoth Mountain. The hotel was ideal home base for days spent snowboarding, relaxing, and taking in the beauty of the Eastern Sierra landscape.
